A sporty and progressive exterior, a purist and fully digital interior combined with a dynamic drive based on compressed natural gas: the Audi A3 Sportback g-tron is a top performer on all levels.
Alternative drive type: Natural gas
The Audi A3 Sportback g-tron is equipped with a bivalent 1.5 TFSI engine. The vehicle is predominantly powered by a compressed form of natural gas (CNG). With its output of 96 kW (131 hp) and 200 Nm of torque, the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds. The 7-speed S tronic enables smooth, lightning-fast gear changes.
Greater range: Three gas tanks
Like its predecessor, this five-door vehicle has two carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer (CFPR) tanks under its luggage compartment floor, each of which holds some 7 kilograms of gas. The new Audi A3 Sportback g-tron is additionally equipped with a steel cylinder that holds 4 kilograms of CNG. This gives it a gas-powered range of up to 495 km (NEDC). Compressed natural gas can be topped up at any CNG filling station. If the supply of gas starts running low, the vehicle switches to reserve mode with petrol. The switch from one drive type to the other happens automatically.
Combine different paint finishes and wheels with one another to create a new Audi A3 Sportback g-tron entirely according to your ideas.
Sportiness by design: The exterior
There is just one small but telling detail that points to its alternative drive type: the g-tron badge on the lid of the 280-litre luggage compartment. A clear indication that this Audi model features a CNG drive. The low-lying gas tanks are perfectly integrated into the chassis, with no impact on driving dynamics. With its strikingly carved wheel arches, wide track and V-shaped shoulder line, the Audi A3 Sportback g-tron can quite clearly be identified as a sportback from the outside.
The interior of the Audi A3 Sportback g-tron is characterised by a purist black-panel look. Precise horizontal lines and surfaces with a clear design emphasise the width of the cockpit. Built into the centre console next to the driver seat is a round, sensory volume control operated using circular finger motions. A large storage compartment contains the inductive charging pad of the Audi phone box as well as two USB connections. For more individuality in the interior of the Audi A3 Sportback g-tron, there is the optional contour and ambient lighting package. This offers a choice of 30 colours with which to set the mood just as you like it.
Digital and ergonomic: Display and operation
The Audi A3 Sportback g-tron features a fully digital and intuitive display and operating concept. Designed with the driver in mind, its layout makes for convenient operation of numerous functions, even while driving – for instance via the central touch display. The digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster displays the remaining range in both modes (CNG and petrol) separately. The optionally available Audi virtual cockpit plus offers a 12.3-inch central display and further graphical representation options. The optional head-up display projects key information onto the windscreen in the driver’s direct field of vision.
